Danny Carmichael was trained at the Sydney Conservatorium and Sydney Conservatorium High School in trombone, singing and piano. Since completing his studies he has performed and recorded in many bands of different styles.

As a trombonist he has worked locally and internationally in big bands and pop bands some of these include the Mothership Orchestra, the Dan Barnett big band, Thirsty Merc and Gotham City Horns.He has recorded with such bands as Blue Bottle Kiss and Todd Sparrow.

He has appeared at many major festivals such as the Wangarratta Jazz Festival where he performed as a finalist in the National Jazz awards. He has also appeared on telivision programs such as The Kerrie Anne Show.

His trombone playing has been heard on many jazz radio stations up and down the east coast.

Throughout his career as a trombonist he has also sung as a backing vocalist
